In a remote underground bunker, Black List leader, Ghost, pours over files from behind a large desk. His second-in-command, the mysterious Dragon, enters the room from a secret entrance. Ghost slides a file folder across the table towards him and motions for him to sit down.
"I'm glad you chose to join me here today, Dragon."
"Of course, Sir. Black List is my life."
"And that's just the reason why I have chosen you as my second-in-command in this exciting new venture."
"With all due respect, Sir, I don't quite understand your reasoning behind all this. We have been largely successful in our recent missions, striking deep at the heart of Global Risk. Why disband? Why not press on? "
"Dragon, my friend, we shall press on. Make no mistake, we will continue to torment Alex Roid and his rag-tag group of "mercenaries" at Global Risk. As for Black List's track record in the field, it is indeed impressive and your efforts have been duly-noted. You would not be sitting here with me today otherwise."
"Thank you, Sir."
"The reason for disbandment is more an issue of…public perception."
"I'm sorry?" Dragon wonders out loud.
"If there's one thing that "Sir" Alex Roid has done right all these years, it's maintaining a good public image. He is the literal "White Knight" of the free world. World leaders, and I mean the real leaders, not the puppets you see on jumbo jets and golf courses, adore him. He is a bastion of peace and goodwill. In my home country of England, I am feared, while he is revered. Because of this, he gets all the funding, all the capital and resources, while we fight for every scrap we can."
Dragon nods in agreement.
"I came to this realization at the height of the Mutant outbreak, a time when the world was gripped in terror, aghast at these horrible beasts we unleashed. For many, it was truly a nightmare come to life."
"I see, Sir."
"Yes, so that's why the time has come to begin anew. The lines between Global Risk and Black List will be blurred and soon we will be the ones with wealth and respect."
"I like the sound of that," Dragon responds, folding his arms behind his head.
"And that's why I've called you here today. The cast of characters surrounding Black List and Global Risk is ours for the taking. These are truly the world's most elite soldiers and they can be ours; if not through persuasion, than through sheer force. In front of you lies a dossier of Black List and Global Risk's top tier agents. Let's see who will join us in ushering in this new chapter of Black List's storied history."
"First up, Private Rebecca Chambers."
Rebecca Chambers – Rookie Global Risk sniper.
Global Risk's newest recruit. Skilled but inexperienced and naïve. Known to have associations with Black List operative, Duncan Mackay.
"Her skills are impressive no doubt. I almost lost my head on our rescue operation at the Global Risk prison," Dragon comments.
"And what about Mackay?"
"Kid's got guts. I like him. He' not bad with a rifle, either."
"I meant his association to Chambers. It is troublesome. I don't like it."
"Kid's got a crush is all."
"His emotions and attitude make him a liability. Let's move on."
"Lt. Reinhardt and Captain Karen O'Neil. Both M.I.A. following the events of the Mutant War."
Lt. Reinhardt – Former commander of field operations for Global Risk.
Recruited from German's elite special forces unit, GSG-9. Captured by Black List and transformed into a Mutant himself using the Project Titan formula. His transformation served as the catalyst to the events of the Mutant War. Escaped from a Project Titan research facility shortly after the Mutant Outbreak and has not been seen since.
Captain Karen O'Neil – Formerly Global Risk's deadliest agent, excelling in nearly all combat scenarios.
Strong ties to Lt. Reinhardt. Pursued Lt. Reinhardt following his capture and disappearance. Held a brief position within Black List in order to find more information about Reinhardt's whereabouts. Expected to be traitorous but still viewed as a potentially valuable asset.
"These two are wild cards. I don't know if we'll ever hear from them again, but it's best we continue our search for them. Who's next?"
"Lt. Steadman. I hate this guy."
Lt. Christopher Steadman – Second-in-command to Sir Alex Roid.
Field leader for Global Risk operations and an around well-rounded soldier. Recruited from the United States S.W.A.T. unit. A proud man and extremely loyal. Has yet to truly establish himself as a figure of authority inside Global Risk following the departure of Lt. Reinhardt and Captain Karen O'Neil.
"He truly is Roid's lapdog isn't he? It will take a lot to make him leave his side. Who's next?"
"Sir Alex Roid, himself."
Sir Alex Roid – The leader of Global Risk and so-called "White Knight" to the free world.
Well-respected in powerful circles as an excellent soldier and leader. His military history traces back to the 1950s where he was second-in-command to Edward Wolfe of the British SAS.
"Alex Roid's golden days are numbered. I have learned that he will be meeting with his former weapons manufacturer, Michael Norman. By now, Roid must know of Michael's involvement with Project Titan. I'm not sure what he intends to do with him, but you can bet we will be at this meeting. Dragon, you are to prepare yourself for the mission. We depart at 14:00 hours. We'll speak more about our new team members on the way."
